For a short time he lived in Brussels, but soon returned to Dusseldorf, from where he moved to Berlin in 1882. Leu was royal Professor and received the large gold medal of the Berlin exhibition. At the Paris World Fair in 1855, he also earned an honorable mention for a landscape painting. His works can be seen among others in museums in Oslo, Bremen, Vienna and Berlin. (nlu)
