    Also known as Auguste-Henry Berthout, Auguste Henri Berthoud was a Swiss landscape painter of the Barbizon school. Berthoud studied in Paris with Eugéne Lepoittevin and Ary Scheffer, pupil of Camille Corot, and stayed in the Barbizone artists' colony. There he became acquainted with Constant Troyon and Théodore Rousseau u. a.. In 1852, Auguste Henri Berthoud moved to Lausanne and worked on the landscape of the Bernese Oberland. He lived in Interlaken for 14 years before settling in Colombier and Neuchâtel in 1874.
