About Bartolomeo Ligozzi

  • Biography

Bartolomeo Ligozzi's life spanned from 1630 to 1695. Ligozzi was a florentine painter at the court of the Medici, whose artistic output is largely categorized in the inventories of the Pitti Palace, the Villa di Poggio Imperiale and Villa di Poggio a Caiano, where even today are preserved most of the works. The pictorial style was inspired probably by the illustrations of rare and medicinal plants by Jacopo Ligozzi, whose nephew was, and the compositions of the Roman painter Mario dei Fiori.
