    Benedetto Luti was employed by many of the leading Roman families of the day, including the Torri, Colonna, Pallavicini, Barberini, and Odescalchi, whilst also receiving the patronage of church leaders such as Pope Clement XI, Cardinal Ottoboni, Cardinal Augusto Fabbroni and Padre Cloche.

    The artist was among the painters selected to decorate the nave arcade of San Giovanni in Laterano, the most important papal commission in the first quarter of the century, for which Luti, in 1718, contributed the figure of Isaiah to the series of oval prophets.
