    Marc Louis Benjamin Vautier (born April 27, 1829 in Morges; † April 25, 1898 in Düsseldorf) was a Swiss painter and representative of the anecdotal narrative genre painting of the Düsseldorf School.

    Benjamin Vautier, son of the Vaudois parish candidate and grammar school teacher Rodolphe Benjamin Louis Vautier (1798–1871) and his wife Jeanne Marie Sophie, b. Chevalier, was born in Morges on Lake Geneva. He spent his youth in Noville in the Rhône Valley, where his father was called as a pastor. He then attended the Lausanne grammar school and was supposed to become a pastor. In caricatures of the pupil Vautier the talent was shown early.
