    Bernard Middleton ASA, CSPWC (1909 – 1996)

    A Calgary, Alberta painter and educator, Bernard Middleton was born in Derbyshire, England. He came to Canada with his parents in 1911. He appears to have lived in Calgary for most of his life. He was a prominent artist in the mid 20th century: He taught at the Banff School of Fine Arts*, he was chosen to represent Alberta at the Kingston Conference*, he was invited to exhibit several times with the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts*, and his works were chosen by the National Gallery of Canada and the Canadian Society of Painters in Water Colour* to be exhibited at the 1939 New York world’s Fair.
