    An art teacher at Cleveland High School in St. Louis, Bernard Peters studied in England and France and at Harvard University and the University of Missouri. He was a member of the St. Louis Art Guild and exhibited with that group as well as at the Missouri State Fair in 1933 and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts.

    In 1932 Bernard Peters was co-founder of the Ste. Genevieve Art Colony in Ste. Genevieve, Missouri, the Colony's Summer School of Art, which thrived throughout the next decade and attracted prominent artists to the faculty including Thomas Art Benton.
