    German landscape, still life and portrait painter (1902 Gelsenkirchen/Essen to 1988 Heide i. Holstein), studied at the Folkwangschule Essen in 1920, 1921-23 at the Kunstschule Essen, 1931-36 art teacher at the school in Meppen, 1936 suspended from teaching by the National Socialists, 1937-40 director of an advertising studio in Cologne, during the 2nd World War war painter in France. During the Second World War, war painters in France, Russia, Romania, and Hungary, 1950-59 worked in the Cologne art trade, 1959-73 as freelance artist in Meppen, from the 1970s based in Tellingstedt and Heide
