About Brad Kahlhamer

  • Biography

    Native American, Brad Kahlhamer assimilates abstract elements from the art of his culture with that of New York Abstract Expressionists including Cy Twombly and Willem de Kooning. He was born on an Indian Reservation near Tucson, Arizona and raised in the Midwest by a German-American family.

    Cultural influences on his work include punk and country-western music and television shows such as Little House on the Prairie. In 2006, Kahlhamer created in New York an "Urban Prairie Series" for a Deitch Projects exhibition.
