About Carl Friedrich Rumohr

  • Biography

Karl Friedrich Rumohr, art historian, writer and gastrosoph, spent his life traveling, particularly to Italy. Among other things, he made a name for himself as a sponsor of young artists such as Franz Horny and Friedrich Nerly, whom he supported significantly.

He was a dilettante in the best sense of Goethe. His landscapes, which he developed without exception in feather, are characterized by rapid hatching and rhythmic handling of the feather. Created from the imagination, they are one of the peculiar products of German Romantic drawing.
