    Carlos Dalgas was born in Naples and came to Denmark in 1830. He studied with Christoffer Wilhelm Eckersberg from 1837 to 1845 and followed the national-liberal ideas of his time. Dalgas is one of the romantic painters of the Golden Age in Denmark in the generation of Christian Skovagaard and Johan Thomas Lundbye. He preferred idyllic landscapes with staffage, bathed in a warm golden light and often characterized by a sentimental mood. The present study is also attractive, in which Dalgas concentrated entirely on the physical appearance of the treetops and shrubs, which, with their differentiated shades of green, stand in attractive contrast to the blue of the cloudless sky shining through in the background.
