    Carlos Alcolea was an internationally recognized artist from Spain who was one of the referents of the New Figuration in Madrid. He was an outstanding painter of the movement known as Nueva Figuración Madrileña in the seventies. His first individual exhibition was at the Amadís Gallery in 1971, in which its director and the painter Luis Gordillo brought together the most outstanding artists in Madrid at that time, such as Guillermo Pérez Villalta, Carlos Franco, etc.

    He also exhibited in Art Galleries, such as the Buades Gallery, Cúpula Gallery, Gamarra and Garrigues Gallery, etc. He died at the premature age of 43 due to an illness. In 1992 he was posthumously awarded a National Arts Prize.
