    At the age of 14 Charles Johann Palmié trained as a stage painter at the Dresden Academy. In Dresden he received many commission such as for the Leonhardi-Museum. In 1884 he moved to Munich where he continued his studies with August Fink.

    From 1886 Palmié worked as an artist and he was a founding member of the Neuen Künstlervereinigung München. In the following years he undertook numerous travels, especially to the Alps, and made gained recognition as a landscape and still life painter. He initially painted in the manner of the Biedermeier, whereas his later works showed a strong influence of Impressionism....
