He was affectionately known as `Sheep` Jones due to his skillful and realistic portrayal of them. From 1860 to 1891, he exhibited at the Royal Academy and at the British Institution from 1861 to 1863. He also exhibited at Suffolk Street and the New Watercolour Society.
