    Karl (or Charles) Heinrich Hindenlang (1894-1960) was a Swiss artist, painter, glass painter, ceramist and set designer. Born in Basel, Karl Hindenlang began an apprenticeship as a decorative painter in 1911 and attended courses at the industrial school at the same time. From 1920, he made designs for lanterns and costumes of the Basel carnival.

    In 1928, he became a member of the group ‘Rot-Blau II’, and in 1933, he was one of the founding members of the legendary anti-fascist Basel ‘Group 33’. From the mid-1930s, he devoted himself to glass painting, and from the mid-1940s, he created set designs.
