    Born in Cologne, Christa von Schnitzler studied sculpture under the guidance of Toni Stadler at the Städelschule in Frankfurt. Starting from 1947, she studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich. In 1958, she exhibited her works for the first time at the Kunstverein Cologne. In 1965, she became a member of the ‘Neue Gruppe München’.

    Schnitzler was married to the sculptor Michael Croissant, who held a professorship at the Städelschule. Some works of Schnitzler are on display in public spaces, among others the bronze ‘Große Stehende’ [Large Standing Female Figure] in Frankfurt, and a ‘Girl’ on the university campus in Augsburg.
