    Cristoffel Pierson was born in 1631.

    Pierson was trained in the workshop of Bartholomäus Meyerburgh. When he was still a young man, he painted the portrait of the Swedish field marshal Carl Gustav Wrangel. Carl Gustav Wrangel was so impressed with his work, he offered Pierson the position of court painter to Queen Christina.

    Pierson specialized first and foremost in trompe-l’oeil hunting still life. His surviving portraits attest to his great artistic talent. He passed away in 1714.
