Chu Chu is an artist from Hangzhou, China who studied at the China Academy of Art. She received training in traditional Chinese painting, oil painting, photography, and film, and studied calligraphy under Wang Dongling for her doctoral degree. Chu explores the relationship between traditional and new media in her artwork and integrates them. She found a dried pear in 2007 and photographed it in 2010, reworking the black-and-white photograph by inscribing cursive calligraphy on the print.
