    Clara Porges, a German-born painter, visited the art school managed by Max Liebermann in Berlin in 1896-1898 and then the Fehr Academy. Later she went on a trip to Italy and trained with Paul Kutscha in Vienna as a landscape painter.

    Inspired by Nietzsche's writings, she sought the Engadine in 1911, where she got caught up in the high alpine backdrop. It lived alternately in the Fextal, Sils-Maria, Maloja and Samedan and created an oeuvre that was influenced by the mountain landscape, which was well received by many spa guests in the Engadine.
