    Born in Dungannon, Co. Tyrone, Clement McAleer studied in England at Canterbury College of Art and the Royal College of Art, London. Upon graduating he was given a solo show at the Arts Council Gallery in Belfast, returning again to show there in 1984. In that year art critic Aidan Dunne wrote: "with his resourcefulness, his rootless, restless vision, McAleer is definitely one of the most interesting young artists in Ireland today" (Sunday Press, 22 January 1984). He has since had numerous solo shows, particularly with the Kerlin Gallery and Hallward Gallery, Dublin, and the Federensky Gallery, Belfast, whilst his work is in many important collections including the Ulster Museum, Arts Council of Northern Ireland, Arts Council of Great Brita...
