Clifford Fishwick was born in Accrington, Lancashire and received his training at the Liverpool School of Art between 1940-42. In 1947 Fishwick moved to Devon where he began teaching at Exeter College of Art, before being appointed Principal of the College in 1958. Closely associated with St Ives painters, Peter Lanyon, Trevor Bell and Paul Feiler, Fishwick regularly exhibited alongside the Newlyn and Penwith societies.
