    Conrad Peter Schreiber was an established artist who moved to Nuremberg in the 1840s. He was a student of Carl Blechen's landscape class at the Berlin Academy of Arts and had a longing for Italy after being part of Wilhelm Schirmer's private circle of students. He spent time in Rome in 1839-41 and returned to Nuremberg via Fürth. The text describes two towers depicted in his views that are still part of Nuremberg's cityscape today. The cylindrical Sinwell Tower was built in the second half of the 13th century as a keep, and the pentagonal tower belonged to the Burggrafenburg, which was probably built around 1192 and largely destroyed in 1420...
