Dan Hatmanu was a Romanian painter and graphic artist. He studied at the Art Institute in Ia?i, further obtaining scholarships to perfect his technique at the Repin Academy in Sankt Petersburg (then, Leningrad) and at the Free Academy in Paris.

Hatmanu developed a vast oeuvre throughout his lifetime. He experimented with different styles of painting, from realism to constructivism, approaching daily life scenes, urban landscapes, portraits as well as more abstract compositions. His works often employ irony and light-heartedness.

Hatmanu participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions in cities such as Budapest, Lisbon, Moscow, Prague, Sofia, or Tokyo. In 195...
