Daniel Jefferson (b. 1977)

St. Louis native Daniel Jefferson is a self-taught street/graffiti artist working under the moniker Bipolar Holiday. He grew up in North St. Louis County in the cities of Normandy and Hazelwood. By the age of 3, Jefferson was drawing and painting alongside his father, Melvin and together they shared studios for collaborations into his mid-20s. (1)

Jefferson’s father grew up in Tupelo, Mississippi and his mother in St. Louis, Missouri. When speaking of his family history, Daniel describes Quaker and Native American ancestry — along with his father, who is black, and his mother who is white, as forming his multiracial identity and upbringing.
