  • Biography

    The only son of a Royal Canada Air Force pilot, David Drum, when the war ended, moved with his family to Toronto, Ontario where his father began a career in printing and lithography. In l954 his father built David a studio and taught him oil painting techniques.

    In l96l, at the age of 17, he won the Canadian National Exhibition mural competition. By then he was working for several Toronto companies illustrating their catalogues while studying under the guidance of his art teacher, Alex Fraser of Gordon Graydon Secondary School.


    Summers were spent landscape painting at his uncle's Gatineau cottage. A misplaced application to the Ontario College of Art in l963 led to his enrollment in the anato...
