    Kokkinidis was born in Piraeus in 1929. In 1952 he abandoned his studies at what was then the School of Economic Sciences and became a student at the Athens School of Fine Arts until 1958. From 1959 to 1961 he was in charge of the art section of the newly-established Hellenic Handicrafts Organization and assisted in the design and morphological orientation of folk production and craft industry, after a short period of training in Italy. Up to 1976, in parallel with painting, he made his living with applications of art. In 1976, he was elected full professor at the Athens School of Fine Arts.
