Rapp graduated from the Cornish School in Seattle and then studied at the University of Washington during the summers of 1935 and 1936 with sculptor Alexander Archipenko. In 1938, she began teaching at the Cornish School, and her classes included anatomy, drawing and sculpture. Rapp married Seattle attorney John McLauchlan in 1942.
