    Edith deMay Smith:

    Born: Dec. 10, 1908 Died: Aug. 1, 1984

    Edith deMay Smith graduated from the University of Nebraska. She taught school in Rising City, Nebraska in 1929, and came to Charleston, S.C. to teach art at Ashley Hall in 1943, a position she held for 40 years.

    She studied at the Art Students League in New York and with Gordon Grant, Doug Kingman and Gerald Brommer. She was a member of the Charleston Artist Guild, South Carolina Watercolor Society, Miniature Art Society of New Jersey and the Miniature Art Society of Florida.
