    Founder of the school of Piedmontese 'landscape', he learned his artistic knowledge first in Geneva, where he studied painting at Ghigon and Alexandre Calame and then in Paris where in 1855 he participated in the Universal Exposition of Paris, presenting two paintings Capri and Gulf of Naples.

    In the following years, he participated several times in the Turin Promoter exhibition. In 1861 he participated in the National Exhibition of Florence, and in 1867 and 1869, he presented two works at the annual Brera exhibition.
