    Edward Rosenberg studied at the Academy of Arts 1879–1882. In 1882 he received the Royal Medal for the blackboard Ekskog in dinner lighting. This kind of mood painting came to characterize Rosenberg's art. From 1882 he spent two years in Paris and in the painting colony of Carolles on the Normandy coast. At the parlor in Paris, where he has exhibited several times since 1883, he received the 1886 honorary mention for Spring Winter, a motif from the Stockholm district.

    His painting March Evening was shown in Munich in 1901 and became his greatest success internationally. The painting was purchased by the National Museum. About the painting, the museum's then-director Georg Göthe stated: "Which Norwegians do not recognize the N...
