    1906-09 Training as a drawing teacher at the Hamburg School of Applied Arts,

    1910 Drawing teacher examination, then student at the Lewin-Funcke-Schule Berlin with Lovis Corinth, then further training in graphic techniques with Fritz Behnke in Hamburg,

    1914 Study trip to Paris, 1914 return to home in Bad Oldesloe, maintained contacts to the art scene in Hamburg and Lübeck

    From 1925 went on study trips to Italy, Holland, France, Norway, Denmark and Munich,
