Emile Berchmans was a Belgian painter, graphic artist, and illustrator, born in Liège in 1867. He studied at the Académie des Beaux-Arts in Liège and developed into a versatile artist working within Symbolism, academic realism, and decorative arts around 1900.

Berchmans became especially known for his refined depictions of female figures, allegories, mythological scenes, and elegant decorative panels. His style is characterized by soft, muted colors, flowing lines, idealized forms, and a dreamy atmosphere.
