    Emilie Touraine, daughter of jeweler Pierre Jacque Touraine, was born September 1, 1939, in New York, New York, and raised, from 1943, in Pasadena, Altadena, and Alhambra, California. In 1960, she moved with her family to Scottsdale, Arizona, working there as an artist for twenty years. For varying periods during this time, she visited the Pacific Northwest, during 1972-1977; Nebraska, in the 1970s; and lived, for varying periods with the traditional Hopi of northern Arizona in the late 1970s to early 1980s.

    She moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1980, where she changed her painting medium from oil to acrylic because of health reasons. From 1987-1991, she lived in a Cook Ranch line camp near Santa Fe, New Mexico. She now lives in Co...
