    As of 1900, Enrique Marín Higuero (1876-1975) received his academic training in sculpture in Rome. In 1915, he won the gold medal at the Exposición Nacional for his polychrome woodcut ‘Resurrection’. Furthermore, Marín Higuero exhibited internationally and won the gold medal at the World Exhibition in Munich in 1905, at the International Exhibition of Buenos Aires in 1910 and at the International Exhibition of Panama in 1925. In 1951, he took part at the Bienal de Arte Hispano- Americana.

    His work shows an academic style of painting that mixes with classical influences and the Spanish tradition. Works by Marín Higuero can be found in important collections of museums, including the Prado in Madrid.
