    Ercole Calvi, a landscape artist from Venice, flourished in the 19th century. He was known for his romantic landscape paintings of Lombardy lakes, Venetian and Neapolitan shores, and Alpine landscapes. Calvi trained at the Cignaroli Academy in Verona and later at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts in Milan. His works were inspired by popular models of his time, such as Giuseppe Canella. Calvi gained recognition in Milan and returned to Verona in 1856, where he became a professor at the Academy of Fine Arts and director of the Society of Fine Arts. He exhibited successfully in Parma and Florence in 1883, showcasing paintings of various landscapes including Chioggia, Lake Iseo, Lake Garda, Menaggio on Lake Como, and Piazza delle Erbe in Verona.
