    Born on January 10, 1911 in Ivenack, Mecklenburg, Germany, Demmin studied art between 1931 and 1939 at the 'Vereinigte Staatsschule für Freie und Angewandte Kunst Berlin' with Ludwig Bartning and Paul Thol.
    Many subjects of his paintings reflect his extensive travels to Holland, Italy, and Portugal, and in 1980 he was the recipient of the Gold Medal of the Accademia delle Arti e del Lavoro in Salsomaggiore Terme.

    German painter. Painter, graphic artist and restorer (1911 Ivenack/Mecklenburg - 1997 Berlin), studied 1931-39 at the Staatsschule für Freie und Angewandte Kunst Berlin under Holst, Max Kutschmann, Paul Thol and Ludwig Bartning, travelled through Italy, Spain, Portugal and Holland, 1949-55 worked as a restorer for Hinnerk Scheper and was involved in the restoration of the Knobelsdorf wing at Charlottenburg Palace and the staircase of Klein-Glienecke Palace, turned to freelance landscape and veduta painting at the end of the 1950s, member of the Havelländische Malerkolonie, active in Berlin.
