    Erich Dichtl, born in 1890 in Moravian Kromau (Moravský Krumlov), was an Austrian animal painter, illustrator, and graphic artist. He spent his childhood in Miroslav (German Misslitz) and attended high school in Brno (Brünn). Dichtl received his artistic education in Munich and Vienna, studying at the Vienna Lyceum around 1910. He undertook numerous study trips to various regions such as the Carpathians, Beskids, Bohemian Forest, Switzerland, and Italy. Dichtl created many pictorial contributions for German and Austrian hunting magazines and was a member of the association of Penzing and Hietzing artists "Lukas-Gilde." He received honors like the Great Silver Medal at the International Hunting Exhibition in Berlin in 1937.
