    Erling Jørgensen, 1905-1977 born in Denmark, was a self taught artist. painter and graphic print-maker. Jørgensen painted first in a naturalist style, but inspired by the Cobra painters, Svavar Gudnason and others, he gradually developed a style of abstract expressionism. For example, his contribution to the decoration of Bregnerødhytten (1949, now Sophienholm) and Painting (1966, Nordjyllands Kunstmuseum).

    Jørgensen was co-founder and member of the Spiral from 1947, of PRO 1964-66 and of the Colorists from 1967. He received the Eckersberg Medal in 1970.
