    Ernest Alfred Dalton AOCA (1887 – 1963)

    A prominent early 20th century Canadian painter, Ernest Alfred Dalton (aka: E.A. Dalton) was born in Brixton, England (Greater London) and immigrated to Toronto, Ontario in 1924, where he appears to have lived the rest of his life. He exhibited with the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts* from 1924 to 1941, with the Ontario Society of Artists* from 1924 to 1936, and at the Canadian National Exhibition (Toronto) in 1930 and 1931.     Dalton’s primary medium was oil paint. His subjects were landscapes and rural scenes of Ontario and Quebec. His styles included Fauvism* and Realism*. The askART auction results have some excellent illustrations of his oeuvre.
