    Ernest Friedrich Carl Lang was the son of Kilian Lang, miniature painter and harpist. He moved to Ruremburg in 1755, and studied as a pupil of the miniaturist Barbara Regina Dietzsch (1706-1783). There he achieved renown for his exquisite paintings of natural history subjects, principally birds and flowers. Examples of Lang's work are held by three European Museums: The Staatsbibliothek Bamber, The Fitzwilliam Museum in Cambridge and the Germanisches National museum in Nuremburg.
