    Ernest Rancoulet, born in 1870 in Bordeaux, France, was a French sculptor known for his Neoclassical bronze figures of mythological creatures, society women, and athletes. He participated in the Paris Salon, exhibiting elegant figurines and portrait busts. Rancoulet had a unique practice of creating pairs of sculptures, often casting two varying copies of the same subject to be displayed together. He frequently inscribed mythical verse onto his works, drawing inspiration from Ovid's Metamorphoses. His career was prolific but short, ending with his death in 1915.
