Ernst Adolph Meißner (1837 Dresden – 1902 Munich) was a German painter and engraver associated with the Munich School, known for his evocative depictions of animals, rural genre scenes, and landscapes.
Meißner studied at the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts from 1851 to 1855 under Robert Kummer and Ludwig Richter, receiving a solid foundation in Romantic and naturalistic traditions. He later expanded his artistic education through extended stays in Munich, Zurich (1860–61), and Rome (1868), and undertook study trips to Holland and Hungary, absorbing diverse European influences.
In 1870, Meißner settled permanently in Munich, where he became part of a vibrant artistic circle that included Otto Gebler, Christian Friedrich Mali, and Heinr...But wait, there's more...
