    Erwin Carl Wilhelm Günther was a popular German landscape painter. He studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Düsseldorf, where he became a member of the artists' association Malkasten. Taking an active part in the life of the local artistic environment, Gunter became known as a marine. He gained his experience and inspiration by making numerous trips, including to the Netherlands and Egypt. From 1891 he was represented at exhibitions at the Munich Glass Palace, and from 1893 at the Great Berlin Art Exhibition. At the World Exhibition in Paris in 1900, large decorative murals for the German Sea Pavilion by Günther were presented.
