    Erwin Knirr was born in Munich, Germany, in 1894. Initially, Erwin was his father's student before attending the Art Academy in Munich around 1912/14. After WWI, he continued his studies at the Academy in Stuttgart, as well as under Carl von Marr (1858-1936) in Munich. As a member of the ‘Künstlergenossenschaft’ in Munich, Erwin Knirr presented works at the Munich Glass Palace (from 1924), as well as the Venice Biennale and the Vienna Secession. Further exhibitions took place at the Galerie Heinemann, Munich. Erwin's diversified oeuvre includes landscapes, portraits, figural compositions, interiors and still lifes. Erwin Knirr died in Schaftlach, Germany, in 1973.
