Born in Port Byron, NY on Sept. 8, 1861, Fannie Duvall studied in New York City at the Art Students League, Cooper Union and with William Sartain. She was active as an art teacher in Syracuse before moving to Los Angeles in 1888.

Working in oil, watercolor and pastel, from her studio in the Arroyo Seco she painted portraits, landscapes, and floral still life. After 1900 she made Paris her second home and studied there with Whistler and at the Grande Chaumière.

Duvall died in Los Angeles on Nov. 3, 1934.
