    Felix Pasilis studied at the Hoffman School (1949-52) and American University (1946-1948) with William H. Calfee. He was a co-founder of the Hansa Gallery in New York City in 1952 along with several other former students of Hans Hoffman, which by one account included Wolf Kahn, Jane Wilson, Jacques Beckwith, Jan Muller, Jean Follett, Alan Kaprow, Richard Stankiewicz, Barbara Forst, and Miles Forst. Prior to its founding, there were no galleries in which avant-garde post-war artists could show their work below 14th St. in Manhattan. Until then, the new generation of abstract expressionists had largely been closed out of the commercial art galleries centered on 59th St. Along with the well-known Tanager artists cooperative, Hansa Gallery form...
