Xiao Feng was born in 1932 in Jiangdu, when he was only eleven years old joins an itinerant company of the young revolutionary group in the Eastern area of free China by making pictures of anti-fascist propaganda. In 1954 he was sent to study oil painting in the former Soviet Union; after graduating, he returned to China in 1960 and started teaching at the Zhejiang Academy. In 1973 he moved the Painting Oil and Plastic Art Department to Shanghai Academy. He realized with his wife Song Ren, artist as well, a lot of oil paintings whose favorite subjects are revolution and history.
