    Ferdinando Silvani attended the Ducal Academy of Parma where he obtained a good preparation in drawing, before later devoting himself to the art of engraving. He also trained as a chalcographer, pupil of Paolo Toschi with whom he collaborated in the translation into print of the works of Correggio and Parmigianino. Silvani stayed for a long time in Venice creating works of great beauty depicting splendid views of the lagoon city. In the small tablet, a typical portal is reflected in the calm waters of the lagoon, a small boat lets itself be cradled caressed by a clear light that the painter Silvani with fast brushstrokes he managed to create.
