About Ferencz Hatvany

    Ferencz Hatvany was a painter and art collector influenced by Ingres and Post-Impressionism. He studied under Adolf Fényes and Sándor Bihari, worked in Nagybánya, and completed his studies at the Academy Julian in Paris. His artwork featured sculptural nudes with accentuated outlines and loose Impressionistic settings. Later in his career, he incorporated Post-Impressionism into his figural pictures, interiors, and still lifes with velvety surfaces. Hatvany was known for his excellent taste in art collection, which included works by Cézanne, Renoir, and Manet.
