About Fernando Canovas

  • Biography

Fernando Cánovas is an Argentinian artist, born in 1960 who adopted the French nationality and studied at L'Ecole des Beaux-Arts, Paris in the early 1980s. He was a favored student of Pierre Alechinsky, and was chosen by Roberto Matta as a unique student for his time. His father was an inventor and a sculptor.

Canovas has lived and worked in many places but today it can be said, that for him the internal and exterior worlds are no more than one landscape. It was not a coincidence that when Luis Felpe Noe analyzed his work, he said; "His paintings are a permanent exploration of the plastic image within painting."
